Dahon's HD Cargo and Touring rack. Built from tubular aluminum to a very high standard. This rack features an upper shelf mechanism which takes Dahon's built to purpose "Stash Box". (The stash box is very nice if a bit overpriced). The reality is that many items can be stashed there, and, as opposed to the Dahon Traveller rack, it does not have a license plate/ light bracket in the way of access there.Somehow they have marked it with a relatively low "weight rating" of "18 kg nuvo". Comparing to other racks builds from companies like Topeak and Axiom, they list weight ratings of 90 to 150 lbs. (ref Axiom Journey)Generally, we feel the weight rating is set much by the shear of the mounting bolts. Stainless bolts are not as strong as rated steel bolts, and if you carry some extra (for rust) It would make sense to load away.If you want to make your Dahon into a full strength Cargo or Touring bike this is part of a Great Platform. Couple it with Dahon's front Luggage Carrier and head off to wherever you want to go.
